Growing up with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) and intellectual disability, and being a mom to a son with disability, Marie brings a deeply personal voice to her work. She knows the pain of being judged, dismissed, or made to feel less than and how much that can isolate. Driven by her life experiences and determination, Marie established Special Opportunities Organization to be a source of hope, empowerment, and belonging for individuals with disabilities, their families, and their communities. Her vision is a sanctuary where individuals are listened to, respected, and cared for without being denied entry.
